PAD Challenge Day 5: Two-for-Tuesday: "Cents" and "Make It Make Sense"

PAD Challenge Day 5: Two-for-Tuesday: Write a make sense poem and/or don’t make sense poem. Two-for-Tuesday: Write a make sense poem and/or don’t make sense poem.

Cents

How much moolah

do I need to gift the

impaired what they

wish for and dream of?

Don’t they,

too,

deserve the blessings

of the morning sparrows,

soothing songs of the oceans,

chances to see the sun rise

and run the day,

dance in their shadows with the moon,

and count how many stars

choose to stand out

for them to be seen too.

May I withdraw a little more savings,

to bake loaves of love for the world

to smell and taste it,

evenly for all 7.7 billion to

say “I’ve been touched too”?

Make It Make Sense

You know,

we live everyday but we’ll die once?

But the cost of living and dying are on the rise together.

Even the cost of a birth and death certificate are the same.

Bread is $2.82,

it’ll probably be $3 by the time I finish this poem.

Milk is $3.70 and gas is $4 and some change.

Everywhere,

Mommas and Daddies

barely got butter for butter.

One works 1st shift,

the other 2nd,

both will probably have a

3rd by the time I finish this poem.

MAKE IT MAKE SENSE!

Highway exits, Inns, cars, bridges, and

the woods behind Wal-marts

are homes and campsites for homeless.

MAKE IT MAKE SENSE!

Looks like the devil’s children are winning

And God’s are suffering.

MAKE IT MAKE SENSE!

The Capital’s violence was

just as vile as America's street violence.

MAKE IT MAKE SENSE!

The school system,

political system,

and criminal justice system

are all politicking.

MAKE IT MAKE SENSE!

The gust of winds,

burning of the fire flames,

quality of air, soil, and water

And the life of food has ALL changed

MAKE IT MAKE SENSE!

The future just may get a pass

on erasing or disguising history-

knowing it’s the miseducation of America’s

racism, social injustice, and inequality

that’s sketching and thickening the lines between us.

MAKE IT MAKE SENSE!

Parallel, white lines are still designed for noses,

6-AM juice is still getting veins loose,

Mary Janes stay strapped and laced,

5ths and 750ml are swallowed

just to cure mental health and pain.

MAKE IT MAKE SENSE!

The world is still standing behind Urkaine

But for Haiti’s natural disaster,

There was little but nothing was the same.

MAKE IT MAKE SENSE!
