PAD Challenge Day 29: Poem in My Passport

PAD Challenge Day 29: Write a pocket poem.

Poem in my Passport

I got a poem in my passport called
If You're A Beggar, Be a Chooser Too.
Come here, I'll show it to you.
See! Right here, between the
black back cover page
of my left and right sleeves,
beside the currencies of
1 Bahamian,
5 Euros,
7 Bermudians,
7 Barbadians,
20 Carribbean guilders,
and 25,000 Rupiahs
is a free villanelle
from Courtney Dowe
handed to me in Washington, DC,
after I recited some poetry.
From poet to poet,
I'm happy she gave it to me-
'Cause I didn't have to be a beggar,
only choose these words for keeps.
